Book 1 ended with your child reading the name of a 2,000-pound Clydesdale. Book 2 brings in a new teammate: a tiny, bossy miniature horse who rules the pasture. Her name is hidden under the ribbon on the cover. Your child can't read it yet, but lesson by lesson they'll earn every letter of it, and then read her name out loud, all by themselves.

How it works: Every lesson follows the same simple steps: warm-up, tap and blend, read the words, word ladder, sentence triangle, decodable sentences, a short story with two questions, and spelling with letter tiles. Games like Swap the Rider and Sound Sort keep practice fresh. Every word your child reads uses only the sounds and heart words already taught, so they're reading, not guessing. Checkpoints at Lessons 1, 12, 23, 34 and 44 show you exactly what to review.

Printing: Print one lesson at a time, as you go. No printer? Your local library may offer low-cost printing.

Made to be easy on the eyes: clear print, generous spacing, and gentle marks for long vowels and silent letters. It's written by a reading tutor of twenty years who has dyslexia herself.

Who it's for: Parents teaching at home, and readers of any age who are ready for the next step after Book 1. Not sure where to start? Our free placement readers show you which book fits your child.

What you get: a 352-page (44 lessons) printable PDF (8.5 × 11), including a parent guide, printable letter tiles and rider tiles, and real farm stories and photos.

License: for use with the children in one family, or by one tutor with their own students. Please don't share, resell or post the file. For a classroom or group, see the Classroom License.
