Heart Word Games for Book 3

They're off!

Four printable games that give your child the repetition heart words need, without it feeling like drills. Heart words are the words your child learns by heart instead of sounding out, and a few quick rounds a day make them automatic.

• Feed the Horse: draw a word, read it, feed the horse. Watch out for Kick! cards.
• Race to the Barn: a two-page board game with a spinner or a fold-up die. Mind the muddy spaces!
• Horseshoe Match: a memory game. Flip two cards, read both, keep the pair.
• Barn Bingo: six different boards, played by reading or by listening.

What's inside: 41 word cards for Book 3, each edged in the book's color, (plus a review deck of past book words from the earlier books, each edged in its own book's color, so children who started at a later book can catch up), winner's ribbons, and simple rules for 1 to 6 players.

Black and white with a thin color edge on each card, so it prints cheaply. Card stock works best for the cards.

Best for: children working through Book 3 of Pulling Together, or anyone practicing these heart words.
