Word Part Review Games for Book 5
They're off!
Four printable games for reviewing the word parts in Book 5: words built with prefixes like un-, re-, dis-, pre- and trans-, and the endings -able, -age and -al. Before reading a card, your child finds the prefix, reads the rest, then reads the whole word. A few quick rounds a day build fast, confident reading of long words.
- Feed the Horse: draw a word, read it, feed the horse. Watch out for Kick! cards.
- Race to the Barn: a two-page board game with a spinner or a fold-up die. Mind the muddy spaces!
- Horseshoe Match: a memory game. Flip two cards, read both, keep the pair.
- Barn Bingo: six different boards, played by reading or by listening.
What's inside: 40 word cards from Book 5's lessons, each edged in the book's color, winner's ribbons, and simple rules for 1 to 6 players.
Black and white with a thin color edge on each card, so it prints cheaply. Card stock works best for the cards.
Best for: children working through Book 5 of Pulling Together, or anyone practicing prefixes.
Printable PDF, 19 pages. (Local libraries are now offering printouts for free or low cost.)
