Spot the Soft C Booklet 2
Description:
Soft c is easy to learn but hard to see. Kids know the rule, then read "fence" as "fenk" or "city" as "kitty." This booklet fixes that by making soft c visible on every page.
In every word with a soft c, the c and the letter after it are underlined: ce, ci and cy. The underline appears on every step, even in the stories. Your child touches the line, says /s/, and reads the word. Lesson by lesson, they learn to spot it on their own.
What's inside:
- 8 short lessons: two each for ce, ci and cy, then two mixed reviews
- The same steps as the Pulling Together books: warm-up, tap and blend, read the words, Which one?, word ladder, sentence triangle, decodable sentences, a story and Build it
- 8 stories about life on our Colorado farm, featuring the horses from the series
- A Sound Sort game, where kids tell hard c from soft c with no underlines to help
- A one-page Roll and Read check at the end, with "Still tricky?" pointers back to the right lesson
- A parent guide and contents page
Who it's for: Children who have finished Book 2 of Pulling Together, or any beginning reader who knows soft c but still trips over it. It works well for parents, tutors and teachers. It uses the dyslexia-friendly design of the main books: clear print, extra spacing, and marks for long vowels and silent letters.
Format: PDF download, 58 pages, US Letter. Print one lesson at a time at home.
For use with the children in one family, or by one tutor with their own students. Classroom licenses are available separately.
