Hopping or Hoping? Booklet
Description:
Hopping or hoping? Tapped or taped? One letter changes the vowel sound. This booklet teaches when to double the last letter, when to drop the silent e, and when to just add the ending, then puts the look-alikes side by side so your child can read them with confidence.
What's inside:
- 8 short lessons: doubling before -ing, doubling before -ed, -er, -est and -y, when not to double, dropping e before -ing, dropping e before other endings, hopping or hoping?, finding the base word, then a mixed review
- The same steps as the Pulling Together books, so the lessons feel familiar
- 8 stories about life on our Colorado farm, featuring the animals from the series
- A sort game for telling the patterns apart
- A one-page Roll and Read check at the end, with "Still tricky?" pointers back to the right lesson
- A parent guide and contents page
Who it's for: Children who have finished Book 4 of Pulling Together, or any reader who needs extra practice with this pattern. It works well for parents, tutors and teachers. It uses the dyslexia-friendly design of the main books: clear print and extra spacing, in the same plain book-style print as the later books.
Format: PDF download, 60 pages, US Letter. Print one lesson at a time at home. (Many local libraries offer free or low-cost printing.)
For use with the children in one family, or by one tutor with their own students. Classroom licenses are available separately.
